Krewella comes to Pakistan

The year started off with a bang as Pakistan witnessed the popular American-Pakistani EDM artist Krewella take the stage in Pakistan, for the first time ever. The duo who has roots in Lahore were over the moon getting a chance to perform in a country they call ‘home’.

The two-day Krewella Pakistan Tour 2023 took place last weekend in Islamabad and Lahore and was curated by Irshad Ali Khan, co-founder of Black Box Sounds who said, “History is made when positive energies and great teamwork come together.” While talking about being in Pakistan and performing here, the duo said “it was a dream come true” and that this is a performance they will never forget. Krewella released their debut EP, ‘Play Hard’ was released on June 18, 2012, while their debut album, ‘Get Wet’ was released on September 24, 2013, on iTunes.

Other international artists who participated in the tour included Chrome Sparks, a Brooklyn-based DJ who plays indie electronic music. He had earlier performed at Mad Decent Block Party 2018 and is loved by the Pakistani audience. In addition to that, Khyber 13 was part of the event. He is a DJ based out of Chandigarh, India and was bought up in the Pukhtoon culture. His sound vacillates between ethnic; electronic; afro and hip-hop. Another act was Karachi-based and Ottawa-bred DJ and Music Producer Turhan James, renowned for producing within a variety of EDM genres who previously has been the support opening act for Afrojack and Steve Aoki. He was also the supporting act for Martin Garrix and recently closed for Armin Van Buuren on New Year’s Eve. Other artists included DJ Barrister, DJ Maleo, Shae Gill, Natasha Ejaz, and a performance by Khumariyaan.
