2022 has been one of the biggest years in music. With countless new albums released this year, Libas Now has compiled a list of 12 albums that were able to deliver cohesive masterpieces with one hit song after another. 

Coke Studio Season 14

Coke Studio’s 14th album brought about some of the best music from the studio yet. Leading the way was the global hit, Pasoori which became not only one of the biggest songs of the year but also one of Pakistan’s all-time top songs. Tu Jhoom, GO, Yeh Dunya and Phir Milenge also received acclaim. With seasoned artists like Atif Aslam, Abida Parveen, Meesha Shafi and Ali Sethi, as well as newcomers like Shae Gill and Hasan Raheem, the album as usual topped local charts.

Nautanki

Hasan Raheem’s latest album just dropped this December to a positive response from its listeners. We already saw that coming as Hasan has become a popular name amongst the youth.

Mr Morale & the Big Steppers

Kendrick Lamar’s fifth studio album launched this May to a positive response. The album was an instant hit, charting at No.1 on the Billboard 200. Like Lamar’s other albums, this is a carefully curated work of art, that can be endlessly relistened to and analysed.

Midnights

Midnights is Taylor Swift’s 11th album has been at No1. ever since its launch. Delivering hits such as Anti-Hero and Karma, the album’s October launch placed it at the biggest debut of the year. Swift’s position as the Queen of Pop becomes more and more solidified as she continues to break records.

Harry’s House

Harry Styles’ third album launched in May and was an instant viral hit, particularly online. Its lead single As It Was has a whopping 382 million YouTube views. Though it is rare for artists to launch successful solo careers after having been in popular bands, Harry’s House has added to the list of Styles’ hits and has cemented his solo career.

Dawn FM

The Weeknd’s fifth number-one album, Dawn FM, has demonstrated the artists’ incredible composition. This album delivered hits like Take My Breath and Sacrifice, which have racked up 133 million and 53 million views on YouTube respectively through the unique music video storytelling.

Renaissance

Renaissance was Beyonce’s first studio album since Lemonade (2016) and unsurprisingly, the 2016 album set the bar very high. But with hits like Break My Soul, which charted at No.1, the album was able to dominate the charts for weeks.

Superache

Conan Gray is one of the up-and-coming music artists, and his second studio album has been a hit, peaking at No.9 on the charts. It has cemented his place in the industry. The album featuring Jigsaw and Summer Child has been viral online.

Proof

BTS has one of the biggest and most loyal fan bases in music, and the band’s latest album has unsurprisingly reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100. This has been their sixth No. 1 album and will be the last before the band takes a temporary break to focus on their solo careers.

Emails I Can’t Send

Sabrina Carpenter’s fifth studio album Emails I Can’t Send has broken her out of the Disney bubble. The album debuted at No.23 and made it to No.19 on Billboard’s Best Albums of 2022.

Special

Lizzo’s Special gave us hits like the viral About Damn Time which has garnered nearly 100 million views on YouTube. The album peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart, becoming, at the time, the highest-charting album by a female artist in 2022.

Born Pink

BlackPink’s second studio album has given them their very first No.1 album. The K-pop group produced hit singles, such as Pink Venom and Shut Down from this album.
