Veteran Pakistani Comedian Amanullah Passes Away

Stand-up Comedian and Artist Amanullah Khan passed away on Friday in a private hospital in Lahore.

 

According to his family, the veteran actor was suffering from lung and kidney diseases and was shifted to a hospital earlier this month after his health deteriorated. 

 

He had entertained at least three generations with his unique sense of humour and spontaneity. Amanullah performed over 2000 stage plays in a career spanning some 40 years and worked with all the big producers of the time.

 

He had appeared in several late-night shows including Khabarnaak on Geo News. Before his death, he was working with a private channel’s programme Khabarzar. Moreover, his performances in various stage shows, films, theatre productions and TV were applauded by the audience. 

 

Amanullah was born in Gujranwala in 1950. He came to Lahore at an early age. His first stage performance was “One Man Comedy Show” at a local theatre in Lahore in which he performed mimicry of celebrities.

The actor was married thrice and leaves behind 14 children and a sister.
