Top Picks from Islamabad United X Imran Qureshi Limited Fashion Line

With the 7th season of PSL matches taking place all over Pakistan, cricket has paved its way back into action and somehow into art and fashion too! Yup you read that right, with the PSL matches in full action, teams are not just gearing up to give their best on the field but also outside the field.

The recent collaboration between internationally acclaimed miniature artist Imran Qureshi and Islamabad United is a prime example of cricket infusing the fields of art and fashion together. The limited-edition fashion line launched by Islamabad United X Imran Qureshi includes prints of paintings done by Qureshi for the team. In an exclusive conversation with Libas Now, it was revealed by Qureshi that he had invited cricketer Shahdab Khan and Asif Ali to his studio to play cricket with paint soaked balls thus capturing the spontaneous movement of a bowler and a batsman on a canvas. “It was like mapping the movements of a bowler and a batsman on a surface,” explained Qureshi.

Later the artist worked on the canvas to bring out the details of the paint splatters left behind by the cricketers, getting it ready to be printed onto sleek, straight silhouettes for the limited-edition fashion line. The miniature artist Imran Qureshi explains his artwork for the fashion line: “Mughal miniature-painting derived foliate patterns were combined with these abstract action-painting marks depicting life, peace and harmony.”

Although the limited-edition pieces are available for pre-booking at the retail website Jomo, they will also be launched at Saphire’s retail stores across Pakistan. The collection consists of all year-round jackets, face masks, silk scarfs and much more.
